In 1987, our mother Kay and father, retired Lt Commander Robert F. Steward,
Michigan State Police, bought the campground. By this time, the old trailers were
gone and there was already a new bathhouse. Our parents then went about
updating the grounds, added more sites, built a new office, and removed the old
motel units.
History of the family provided by Karen Smeja daughter and operator of the campground.
She has sold the grounds to David and Donna Goldthorpe in the Fall of 2021.
They are happy to be new owners of Lakeshore and will work to continue the
legacy of Bob and Kay and all of the Steward family, based on friendly and honest
business principles.
Lakeshore RV Campground is a full-service, family-owned RV Park. Offering
